Buddha Purnima is observed on the Pournami (Full Moon) of the Vaishakha month in the Hindu calendar. It is believed that this was the day on which Lord Buddha was born, the day on which he achieved Enlightenment as well as the day he attained Mahaparinirvana. It is also known as Buddha Jayanti, Vesak or Vaishakha. Buddha Jayanti was observed on 18th of May in 2019 and is believed to be the 2581st birth anniversary of Lord Buddha.
