Sant Kabirdas was a saint, social reformer and famous poet of the Bhakti movement. It is believed that he lived between 1440 AD and 1518 AD and his birth anniversary is observed on the Jyeshta Poornima according to the Hindu calendar, corresponding to 28th of June in 2018. It is widely believed that Sant Kabirdas was born in a poor weaver family to Neeru and his wife Neema. He became a disciple of Swami Ramananda of Varanasi and attempted to reform both the Hindu and Muslim religious practices. His preferred method of preaching was through his poems, which he composed in the Hindi vernacular dialects of Avadhi, Brij Bhasha etc. These verses were known as Bani, Dohe, Saloka / Shloka or Sakhi. He remains in India through his followers known as Kabir Panthis and his everlasting message of peace and brotherhood.
