Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa The Sree Dharma Sastha Temple at Shabarimala is the abode of Lord Ayyappa. Devotees flock here, to obtain his darshan after observing a vratam (fast) of forty one days. The temple opens on the first day of the Vrishchikam month in the Malayalam / Kollam Calendar. This roughly corresponds to 16th / 17th November in 2019. The Lord will grace devotees with his darshan for around six weeks, till Makara Sankranti, after which the temple closes. During this period more than thirty lakh devotees receive the blessings of the Lord.
