Wishing everyone a very Happy Dussera.
Dussera also known as Navratri (festival of nine nights) is celebrated during the Sharad or Autumn Season. It is celebrated with great fervour in Mysore State (now Karnataka).
The significance of Navratri is victory of good over evil, with the Mother Goddess destroying evil, signified by Mahishasura. The Mother Goddess is worshipped in her nine forms.
Today (23-09-2017) is the third day of Navratri and we worship the Mother Goddess in her form of Chandraghanta in which she appearded at the time of marriage with Shiva. In this form she has eight hands holding a Trishula (trident), Gada (mace), Billu-Bana (bow and arrow), Khadga (sword), Kamala (lotus flower), Ghanta (bell) and Kamandal (waterpot), while one of her hands remains in blessing posture or abhayamudra.
Worship of Navadurga brings peace, prosperity and happiness. Bring home an ornamental mantap today
